Electric and Green Vehicle Parking

Green Vehicle Support at Cornell

At Cornell, we’re proud to support sustainable transportation through convenient access to electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and preferred parking for low-emission and alternative fuel vehicles. Whether you’re commuting in an EV or driving a certified green vehicle, your commitment helps reduce our environmental footprint and move us closer to our campus sustainability goals. Thank you for driving change—literally!

🔌 Updated Electric Vehicle Charging Program

Effective July 1, 2025

To support reliable infrastructure and equitable access, a new dual-fee structure for EV charging will be introduced:

  • Charging Fee: $3.50/hour (requires a ChargePoint account)
  • Parking Fee: $3.00/hour (applies unless a valid permit is held for the location)
  • Note: Fees apply continuously while the vehicle is plugged in—there is no time limit, so timely vehicle removal is encouraged.

🔌 Getting Started with EV Charging on Campus

🌿 Low Emission & Alternative Fuel Vehicle Parking

To support sustainability and LEED goals, designated parking spaces are available for:

  • Low Emission Vehicles (LEVs)
  • Alternative Fuel Vehicles

These spaces are clearly signed and painted and located in both parking garages. A valid permit is required, and vehicles must meet environmental standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council.

✅ How to Know If Your Car Qualifies:

🚦 Parking Reminders

  • Only Park in a charging space if you’re actively charging
  • Follow all posted time limits and permit/payment rules
  • LEV/Alternative Fuel spaces are only for qualifying vehicles
