Each of the more than 4,000 facilities recorded in the facilities inventory system has a facility type code. Table I below lists these type codes and how they are used.
Table I. Facility type codes in use from July 1, 2023 forward.

| D | Design Development |
| G | Other non-Building |
| P | Parking |
| Q | Bridge |
| R | Road |
| U | Utility and Fuel Sys |
| X | Historical Unknown |
Note that these facility type codes have changed from the facility type codes used until June 30, 2023. Table II below lists the previous type codes. These facility types were used in conjunction with facility subtype codes which have been retired after June 30, 2023.
