Facilities Inventory: Floor Plans

The Facilities Information Group in the Facilities and Campus Services division maintains floor plans.

Access to floor plans is restricted by Cornell University NetID login.  

Floor Plan Updates

Floor plans are updated annually between November and June as part of a building review process.

Access to Floor Plans

All users of the facilities inventory is granted floor plan access to floor plans at the time they are given access permissions to the facilities inventory.

New floor plans

Searching for a floor plan by facility code or facility name.

Floor plan room numbers

The base floor plans contain room numbers.  For rooms which are large enough on the floor plan, the room number is written inside the room.

In the case of small rooms, such as small closets, the room number is written near to the room and 

The facilities inventory managed by the Facilities Information Group in the division of Facilities and Campus Services is the system of record for room numbers.  Data in the facilities inventory is consumed by many other university computer systems.  

Floor Plan Room Size

The base floor plans also contain information about the size of a room in square feet. 

Floor Plans Annotated by Room Type or Function Code

Beginning in February 2024, it is now possible to view plans of a floor which have been color coded by associated data

  Each room has only room type.  It is common for rooms to have more than one function code.

Floor Plans Annotated by Sponsored Research

  • The presence of sponsored research function codes 2.1 or 2.2

Floor Plans Annotated by College or Division

Having searched for and opened a floor plan in the facility inventory, it is possible to view a version of the floor plan which has been colored by the Kuali Financial System (KFS) college or division.

For a list of current colleges and divisions in use in the facilities inventory and their four-digit KFS "org codes", please see the leftmost columns in our list of college and division org admins.

The legend for the floor plan is at the bottom of the plan.  Move the floor plan on the screen or zoom out to find it.

In some cases, a room is associated with more than one college or division.
