Back to Common Facilities Inventory Tasks

In some cases, the facilities inventory requires matches between a room type and function code or requires additional information about a room which has organized research function codes.  Rooms which have undergone renovation often no longer a complete set of descriptive information for the room.  The room may lack a room type, station quantity, CC/EN value, or function code.  When this happens, you will see that the room is highlighted in red as shown in Figure 1 below.  It is not possible to move the room status forward to complete the inventory for rooms with errors without first fixing the cause of the errors.

Room errors are highlighted in red

Figure 1.  Room listings with errors have a red background.

Viewing Rooms with Errors

To find rooms with errors, in the "1.40 Room Updates" view, in the drop-down called "Save query", change "Show All" to "Has Errors" as shown in Figure 2 below.

Error Query

Figure 2.  How to find rooms with errors.

Each room with errors has one or more error messages.  Look for them as red text at the bottom of the "Room Details" tab for the room.  Figure 3 below shows sample error messages.

Sample errors appear as red text

Figure 3.  The list of error descriptions is displayed at the bottom of both the "Room Details" and "Functions" tabs under the heading "Rule Check Errors".

You may find that after applying the query for "Has Errors" that if you edit rooms in the resulting list, system performance is unacceptably slow.  To return to better performance, remove the filter by changing the query option back to "Show All" rooms before making updates.
