North Campus Parking Spring 2019
Announced Changes to North Campus Parking and Circulation Spring 2019
Cornell is currently in the municipal approvals process for a large residential expansion project on North Campus (NCRE). Pending the necessary approvals, construction could begin as early as next month, and is expected to last until fall 2022. This project will impact transportation and parking on North Campus. As we approach approvals, we want to provide some of the tentative plans and closing schedules to those that will be most directly impacted.
At the start of construction, the CC Lot will be taken permanently offline and the Robert Purcell Community Center (RPCC) parking lot will be closed temporarily.
- Sisson Place is expected to close on or soon after April 1
- CC Lot is expected to close on or soon after April 7
- RPCC Lot expected to close on or around April 30
Additional communications will be sent as closure dates are finalized. Transportation Services has been monitoring parking availability and examining alternate transportation options to minimize disruptions for students, faculty, staff and campus visitors and we are confident that adequate parking will remain available during all phases of the project.
As a reminder, there are several major campus events that will displace permit holders from the A Lot and some R permit areas. Temporary alternative parking accommodations will be communicated to permit holders in advance of these university-sponsored events:
- University Commencement and Convocation, May 24-26
- Science Olympiad National Tournament, May 31
- Reunion Weekend, June 7-9
- Fall Opening, August 23-24
We will continue to keep you apprised of changes to parking, transit, and traffic circulation. If you have any questions about the NCRE project, please visit NCRE.cornell.edu. Questions about parking and alternative transportation options can be directed to transportation@cornell.edu.
