Definition / Examples

AD ‐ AdministrationFor recording vacation time, sick time, and for meetings.
CA ‐ CalibrationSetting or correcting of a measuring device.
CM ‐ Corrective MaintenanceWork performed to correct a fault in equipment or a facility that results in restoration to its intended condition.
EM ‐ Emergency Maintenance WorkCorrective maintenance work performed to correct a fault that could cause a critical infrastructure to be inoperable, life safety issues, or harm to research.
ES ‐ EstimatingEstimate of labor and material costs.
EV ‐ Event ReportFor logging data or readings (history log).
GS ‐ General ServicesService work not focused on correcting or preventing a fault on equipment or a facility. Examples are painting, moving tables & chairs, hanging items, installations, building walls, moving a lab, etc.
IN ‐ Inspection WorkIncludes testing (for example, backflow preventers, emergency lights, verify sheet metal according to standards).
PD ‐ Predictive MaintenanceActivities performed based on process data aimed at the avoidance of maintenance problems by prediction of likely failure modes to prevent failures and/or extend the useful life or reliability of equipment or a facility.
PM ‐ Preventive MaintenanceActivities performed based on a run time, or time interval basis, to prevent failures and/or extend the useful life or reliability of equipment or a facility.
PW ‐ Project WorkWork that is not CM, PM, or PD, is planned, and takes more than 8 hours to complete. Only for WOs that fall under a Project SR.
TR ‐ TrainingStaff training & development.
