Comments
Otis to install hoistway screening requires both elevators to be shut down. There will be no elevator service from 5:30 pm Friday June 25 until 1:00 am June 26.
Friday June 25
Otis shuts both Vet Research Tower elevators off at 5:30 pm
• Install hoistway safety screening, anticipated completion time by 1:00 am.
• Return both elevators to service once screening work is complete.
• One Otis elevator mechanic must always remain onsite when both elevators are shut off.
Fire Alarm Event (June 25 only):
• If a facility event activates the fire alarm system, all Otis elevator mechanics are to exit the facility and muster outside at the western corner of the facility by the Tower Road bus shelter.
• During a fire alarm event, if Cornell emergency personnel request an elevator be turned back on to use for assistance, Cornell EHS shall contact Otis mechanic Tom MacBlane directly. The Otis elevator mechanics shall re-enter the facility under the guidance of Cornell EHS to return an elevator system back to service for use by the emergency personnel.
Medical Emergency Event (June 25 only):
• If Cornell EHS determines that a medical emergency exists within the facility and requires elevator use, Cornell EHS shall contact Otis mechanic Tom MacBlane directly. The Otis elevator mechanics shall expediently do what is necessary to return an elevator back to service.
