2019 Homecoming Parking Lot and Road Closures

Homecoming Parking Impacts

The first week of October will be a busy one on campus. Cornell will host Homecoming Oct. 4-5 and the New York State Veterinary Conference Oct. 4-6. Both events will create impacts to parking and transportation, especially on Friday, Oct. 4. Please review how these changes might impact your normal parking location, and please allow extra time for travel on campus. 

Campus permit holders are being notified individually of the impacts to parking. We appreciate the community’s cooperation in helping to make the weekend safe and enjoyable for everyone. NYS Veterinary Conference Parking Impacts

The NYS Veterinary Conference traditionally brings 800 participants (around 400 additional vehicles) to campus:

  • Off-campus parking and shuttle accommodations have been offered to attendees.
  • A portion of the Teaching and Research Barns Lot (TRB) at the corner of Campus Rd. and Tower Rd. will be reserved for conference speakers and participants with special needs.
  • Attendees may choose to pay to park in the B Lot and TRB Lots.

B and O permit holders may continue to park in all areas for which their permits are valid, and they may also park in the ME permit areas at the East Hill Plaza complex on Friday, Oct. 4 (see map). TCAT Route 82 will be free for community members on Oct. 4 and runs between East Hill Plaza and B Lot every 15 minutes.

Parking Lot Closures: Parking lots will close at the time(s) noted, with any remaining vehicles towed:

  • Schoellkopf Crescent lot, closed 5pm Wednesday, October 2, to 5pm Sunday, October 6

Thursday, October 3, 2019

Parking Lot Closures: Parking lots will close at the time(s) noted, with any remaining vehicles towed:

  • Lynah/ Teagle parking lot, closed from 5pm Thursday, October 3, to 5pm Sunday, October 6
    • Note: Deliveries and special assignments will be granted access on Friday.

Friday, October 4, 2019

Parking Lot Closures: The following parking lots will close at the time(s) noted, with any remaining vehicles towed:

  • Hoy South lot and levels 4 and 5 of the Hoy Road garage, closed 5am Friday, October 4, to 9am Saturday, October 5.
  • Levels 1, 2, and 3 of the Hoy Road garage will remain open; however, on Friday, October 4, there is no entry from 5pm to 10pm, or exiting from 7pm to 10pm, due to the fireworks.
  • Bartels/Friedman reserved for C/G/SC permit parking. Reserved for ADA parking beginning at 5pm.

Road Closures:

  • Campus Road from Hoy Road to Wing Drive, closed 6:30pm - 10pm to ALL traffic
    • Note: Handicap-accessible parking will be available in the Bartels Lot, access from the Judd Falls Road side of Campus Road.
  • Garden Avenue from Campus Road to Tower Road, closed 6:45pm - 10pm to ALL traffic
  • Hoy Road from Campus Road to Dwyer Dam Bridge, closed 8:50pm - 9:30pm to ALL traffic

Parking Lots Closures: The following parking lots will be closed 7am - 6:30pm with any unauthorized vehicles towed:

  • Bartels Hall/Friedman Wrestling Center parking lot
  • Campus Road parking lots from Bartels Hall to Wing Drive
  • Wing Drive parking lot
  • Alumni Field parking lot (reopens 4pm)

Road Closures:

  • Campus Road from Hoy Road to Wing Drive, closed 8am - 6:30pm to ALL traffic, except handicap-accessible parking access from Judd Falls Road side of Campus Road.
  • Garden Avenue from Campus Road to Tower Road, closed 12am - 6:30pm to ALL traffic.
