Sustainability is a big deal at Cornell!

From behavior changes within their daily lives to taking academic courses, to joining initiatives, committees, or organizations on campus, there are numerous ways students can get involved with sustainability at Cornell.

The Campus Sustainability Office (CSO) updates a student sustainability guide annually to provide students with a resource for how to live, lead, and learn for a sustainable future on Cornell’s campus. Check out the Cornell Guide to Living Sustainably to pick up some tips! 

Cornell’s annual Dump and Run allows students to purchase items dropped off at collections bins across campus at the end of every semester. Energy is saved through the reuse of items collected and resold, with the proceeds each year going to local charities. 

Organizations:

Cornell’s Environmental Collaborative (ECO), is the umbrella organization for over 40 student organizations on campus focusing on some aspect of sustainability. A complete list of all of the student groups interested in sustainability can be found on the Sustainable Campus website here.

The President’s Sustainable Campus Committees (PSCC) are comprised of faculty, staff, and students. Every committee has a student co-chair leading sustainability initiatives in 10 Focus Areas across campus, including Energy.
