Station Quantity
The following room types require station quantities:
110, 210, 212, 220, 230, 310, 314, 320, 350, 520, 523, 550, 610, 650, 680
- For the room types noted above a room’s station quantity cannot be blank.
- Hold errors will occur if the room type code requires a station quantity.
- In the case of instructional spaces, the station quantity should NOT include instructor’s stations and should only include student stations with writing surfaces and unobstructed views to the instructor area.
Note: Some room types do not lend themselves to an easily quantifiable station quantity based on furnishings (e.g., dance studios). For these spaces, the idea is to capture the intended occupancy of the space, which may be posted or should otherwise be discerned from normal use.
Facilities Inventory station quantities will be determined as follows:
- If the room(s) is requestable through 25Live (scheduling.cornell.edu)the station quantity should match the default capacity in 25Live.
If the room is not in 25Live and there is a posted occupancy for the room:
- If the maximum occupancy sign has a single number on it use that number
- If the sign has multiple numbers (standing, chairs only, tables & chairs), use the number that matches the way the room is most typically used.
If the room is not in 25Live, and there is no posted occupancy for the room, determine the station quantity based on the station type
· Loose seating (loose tables & chairs, loose chairs, no furniture, lounge furniture)
o Enter station quantity that is based on the design intent for the room.
o Spaces that could be used for standing room, dining set up, or lecture set up, should use station quantity based on the design intent for the room. (examples - multipurpose rooms, exhibition space, galleries, atria, lobbies)
· Fixed seating (seats permanently attached to the floor)
o Enter station quantity that equals count of number of fixed seats + the number of accessible spaces for wheelchairs. Include any loose seating that does not block the egress path (e.g. chairs around a table at the front of the lecture hall or chairs along the back) if they have a writing surface. Reminder - do not include lecterns or instructional stations.
· Lab benches (fixed furniture - labs, shops, equipment rooms)
o Enter station quantity that equals the total number of people the room accommodates at all normal workstations, not specialized, temporary use stations.
· Fixed or loose workstations (computer workstations, drawing tables, mapping stations)
o Enter station quantity that equals the total number of people the room accommodates at all normal workstations; the number the room would typically accommodate.
· Mixed seating – Combination of fixed and loose seating in the same room. This could include combinations of any or all of the above four station types.
o Enter station quantity that equals the total number of people the room accommodates.
