Facilities and Campus Services (FCS) is a values-based organization dedicated to the principals of Truth, Respect, Excellence, Teamwork, and Integrity.

The Cornell University campus is widely admired as one of the world's most beautiful academic settings.

Facilities and Campus Services is committed to providing the highest quality service to faculty, students, staff, alumni, and visitors.  With more than 260 major buildings enhancing the magnificent landscape of the Ithaca campus, the over 1,000 highly talented and dedicated staff of FCS serve as stewards of campus resources and operations.

We are proud to acknowledge the numerous accomplishments and successes of our staff as we partner with the broader university community in carrying out our mission.

In carrying out our mission, FCS stewardship and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversight of planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining university buildings, grounds, utility infrastructure, and energy and sustainability efforts for the physical campus in Ithaca, New York.
  • Oversight of commuter, fleet, parking services, and campus mail.
  • Senior staff contact and support for the Buildings and Properties Committee of the Board of Trustees.
  • We report to the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Facilities and Campus Services consists of the following Departments:

  • Contract Colleges Facilities
    The Contract Colleges Facilities department has responsibilities for: Capital Planning and Management of the SUNY Capital Plan; Maintenance of the State-owned buildings, greenhouses and grounds; Code compliance for all SUNY and Contract College owned builds; and provide coordination for MWBE.
  • Cornell University Police Department
    The Cornell University Police department is an internationally accredited organization that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from its headquarters in Barton Hall. The mission of Cornell Police is to protect lives and property, maintain order, prevent crimes, receive and investigate reports of crimes, and provide other law-enforcement services. 
  • Energy and Sustainability
    Energy & Sustainability is comprised of three interactive teams: Campus Sustainability Office, Energy Management and Utilities Distribution and Production,  that work together to achieve our obligations and seize opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint while providing vital utilities services to the Ithaca campus. 
  • Engineering and Project Management
    The Engineering and Project Management team provides leadership for planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining the university’s facilities and infrastructure needs for learning, discovery, and engagement.  Our team is focused into two major areas:  Facilities Engineering and Project Management.
  • Facilities Management
    As a key steward of the University’s facilities, FM is responsible for facility assessments, skilled trades, building care, grounds, recycling, asbestos, and the management of planned, corrective, and preventive maintenance.
  • Finance & Administration
    Comprised of four departments: Finance, Human Resources for FCS, Contracts, and Information Technology and Business Analytics. F&A provides administrative services for such needs as, financial oversight, budgeting, compliance,  design and construction contracts, business analytics and technology solutions oversight. HR provides services to all FCS staff and supervisors pertaining to such things as benefits, professional development, performance management, HR policies, work/life balance, diversity, and engagement.
  • Transportation and Delivery Services
    Cornell University’s Department of Transportation and Delivery Services facilitates smart and sustainable movement of people, packages, and vehicles across Cornell campuses and beyond.
  • Office of the University Architect
    The Office of the University Architect is comprised of four integrated planning and design disciplines with responsibility for the oversight and management of the long range physical planning and design of Cornell’s buildings and landscape: Architecture, Campus Planning, Landscape Architecture and Facilities Inventory and Data Management (FIG).
