Water Filter Plant Electrical Service Upgrades
Project Description
1. This project will extend the 13.2kV power grid underground to Cornell’s Water Filter Plant (WFP) on Caldwell Road.
2. A directional bore will be required from an existing loop switch located at the West end of Schurman Hall to an open area near the WFP.
3. A new pad mount transformer will need to be connected to this 13.2kV circuit extension and then new 480V secondary conduits and cables will be routed to the second floor electric room.
4. The existing secondary switchgear in the Water Filter Plant will remain in place and be reused.
5. The Plantations Horticultural Center (PHC) Building, which is also connected to the existing 2400V grid, will be served via a new 480V circuit sourced from the existing WFP secondary switchgear.
6. The existing overhead 2400V wires that serve both the WFP and PHC, which are mounted on NYSEG poles, will need to be disconnected and removed.
