Anna Comstock House Flooring Abatement and Replacement

Project Description

1. Work shall proceed in two phases over two summers
   1. Phase 1 shall occur in the West Wing during the Summer of 2024.
   2. Phase 2 shall occur in the East Wing during the Summer of 2025.
2. Properly remove and dispose of the existing carpet, associated non-ACM mastic and non-ACM vinyl cove base in the area indicated on the construction plans.
3. Remove all mastic from the asbestos-containing brown poured floor topping and leave in a condition suitable to accept new finishes.
   1. There is asbestos-containing brown poured flooring material below the carpet in the majority of the rooms/spaces.
4. The abatement contractor shall take precautions to not disturb the asbestos-containing flooring during carpet mastic removal.
5. Coordinate mastic removal methods with flooring contractor prior to abatement to ensure it will not compromise the new flooring application.
6. Perform work in a negative pressure enclosure.
   1. Any loose or dislodged asbestos-containing flooring that is discovered during the carpet removal shall be immediately HEPA vacuumed.
   2. If the asbestos-containing material is found to be in a damaged condition after carpet removal, the abatement contractor shall apply leveling compound to stabilize the asbestos-containing flooring after successful clearance air sampling.
   3. Coordinate floor leveling compound application with the flooring contractor during construction.
   4. Leave the ACM flooring in a condition suitable for installation of new flooring systems by non-certified personnel.
