Speaker Rick Burgess, Vice President: Our responsibility here at the university is really to be the Guardian and the champion of facilities. We plan, we design, we arrange for the construction and manage the construction of the facilities and then we maintain the facilities once they're built. And really the intent is that we are supporting the mission of the university whether that mission is instruction of students or research or outreach to the local community. Speaker William Evans, Manager Fire Protection Services: It's a good working fit for me because it's given me the opportunity to grow. I've been with the University for over 20 years. I started out at the ground level and moving to facilities has really assisted me and reaching and obtaining goals that when I first got here and I didn't believe we're obtainable. I think that people come in here looking for training and the opportunity to grow this is the place to come. Speaker Kim Calovido, Structural Designer: So I've been here about three and a half, four months now. One of the huge reasons that I chose to work here was the stewardship here. I could definitely see staying at Cornell for a pretty long time. They have a lot of growth both like horizontally and vertically so I think it'd be pretty interesting to see where I could go in here. Speaker Dayton Allen, Crew Leader Grounds Department: We only take the best of the best. So if you really are good at what you do and you really want to work with people that are good at what they do. It's a challenge, but it's very rewarding. It's something that you're never bored with, definitely. You never know what's going to happen during the day with something great happens almost every day. Speaker Andrea Haenlin-Mott, ADA Coordinator: I think it's the sense of belonging and that we're all working towards a common goal of trying to make things better for our student staff and faculty, as well as visitors to the University. I think a lot of us are helpers, we want to help people and really do our part and making this a great the University that it is. And so I think with all of us working towards that common goal there is that sense of camaraderie. Speaker Kevin Mitchell, Facilities Manager Custodial Department: Cornell is probably one of the best places that you can start out. Just because there's so many steps you can take from there, there's so many opportunities. It doesn't really matter what you're interested in there's something there. Cornell takes care of you, they really do. If you have a good work ethic and you're looking for somewhere where you can stick it out and be happy this is a place to come. Speaker Debra Howell, Director IT and Analytics: Some of the great benefits of working here is that it truly does feel like a family and we take care of people like we take care of our family around here. I've been given so many opportunities in the years that I've worked here. I started in desktop support 18 years ago and I'm now the director. I got my master's degree from Cornell through the employee degree program. I've always felt supported. I'm a veteran and there's a veteran's colleague network here and so you have the opportunity to connect with other people and it just feels great. Speaker Asa Schindler, Maintenance Planner: Cornell is a really awesome place to work. One of the first big things I wanted to get a job here is a really stable place, really great benefits. That was kind of my initial reason for applying here. Why do I stay here? So I've been here like 12 years now. So there's a ton of really smart really great people that work here. Almost anywhere you work you make some friends with people. But I've made like quite honestly like lifelong friends. Great family work environment definitely. Speaker Rick Burgess, Vice President: I think everybody wants that feeling of togetherness and camaraderie and shared purpose and the sense that when you come to work that you are working with people that you know and you care about and they care about you. And they'll look out for each other. That's a wonderful aspect of Cornell and of the entire facilities team and that's one that I want to not just maintain, but build upon and improve on it to the future. We've got a great mission that we are tasked with and a great team to deal with and we need great people to join us
